COMMON QUERIES

I HAVE A CHILD WITH DEVELOPMENT DELAYS AND TRAUMA HISTORY. WHERE DO I BEGIN?

First, welcome! Let's start with a free, 30 minute consult to meet one another and discuss our options. Almost always, I'd recommend starting with one of my foundations courses. These are 6 week long classes that educate on neurodiversity and trauma and lay the groundwork for all other interventions I offer.

MY CHILD HAS A THERAPIST AND AN IEP. DO YOU WORK WITH ANY OF HIS TREATMENT TEAM?

I absolutely do. It is important for the professionals in your child's life to work together as a team to give you clear direction and support. Each of us bring different lenses, experiences, and expertise and can create a well-rounded response to your child's strengths and needs.

I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT MY CHILD'S PRENATAL HISTORY. HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD NEEDS AN FASD EVALUATION?

Great question! Children who have come through our foster care system are at a significantly higher risk for having a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. In the general public, 1 in 20 children are likely to have an FASD. If your child has an unknown prenatal history, was born with drugs in their system, or had early childhood adversities, I'd want to discuss their needs further. Often, these children don't have accurate diagnoses and are struggling in school or home life with challenging behaviors, ADHD, or anxiety.

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?

Sometimes there are ways to have your insurance cover my services and other times I have limited scholarships available. For class options, you may choose to pay for the entire class up front, or pay monthly during the class. If price is a limiting factor in working with me, please send me an email so we can problem-solve together.

WHAT IS AN EVIDENCED-BASED TREATMENT PLAN?

EBT plans are programs that have undergone rigorous testing and research and have to be delivered in a certain format and timing. They are developed over years and are monitored to make sure they are being delivered to fidelity.

ARE YOU A MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN AND OFFER THERAPY?

I am pursing my Masters of Social Work at Columbia University now, but am not yet a licensed mental health clinician or a medical doctor. I have a BS in Child Development from Meredith College, my Birth-Kindergarten Teaching License as well as the following certifications: Trauma Informed Practices & Adoption Competency Training (NACAC), Neurobehavorial Conditions Including FASD: Understanding and Application of the FACETS Brain-Based Approach (FASCETS), Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-Up Parent Coach (University of Delaware), Infant/Toddler Certification NC, Cultivate Connection Facilitator (Empowered to Connect). I was a 2022-2023 LEND fellow through UNC CIDD and am currently a Families Moving Forward trainee.
