Service Description

I agree with the saying, "your child isn't giving you a hard time, they are having a hard time." Kids are amazing and teaching them and raising them is hard work! As a neurodiverse family and child development specialist, I know this full well. In this 6 week long workshop, you'll learn about the impacts of alcohol and drugs on the developing brain as well as other brain-based disorders and how they can manifest into challenging behaviors. You'll learn the WHY behind what is working and what isn't working for the child in your life. You'll walk away with a plan tailored to your child's and family's needs (or the needs of your classroom). We will explore their strengths and interests and base their plan off their individual uniqueness. You will discover why this child is struggling in certain areas and how you can better meet their needs. You'll create a list of accommodations and environmental changes that can help minimize battle struggles and difficult behaviors as well as increase your confidence as a parent or teacher and your attachment to your child. You will walk away with renewed hope and commitment to embracing all the wonder that is your child and all the ways this world needs them specifically. This class is for you if the child you are raising or teaching has a diagnosed or suspected brain-based disability, prenatal exposure to drugs or alcohol, mental health needs, early childhood trauma, or challenging behavior manifestations. This class is NOT for you if you are looking for a quick fix, a magic pill, or are in need of emergency care. This is a framework for how to shape your life, your expectations, and your responses. All of my classes are affirming of neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, trauma informed, adoption competent, cultural and racial systemic trauma, and welcome to both professionals and parents. The class is 6 weeks long, 1.5 hours a week, taught in real time and not recorded. It cost $300 per household for 9 hours of personalized training and discussion (a $900 value), with a weekly workbook and a certificate of completion at the end for your work, foster care license, or personal record. You may either pay for the class up front, or divide into 2 monthly payments ($150/month). Limited scholarships available. This class is best served as a group so please expect to have your cameras on and be available for discussion and completion of your workbook during the class.
